Having organized the dedicated shareholders of Kings Village Cooperative Apartments in 2012, I understand the stress, anxiety and anger associated with trying to improve a building complex's quality of life. Local law 11 issues are expensive; the management company is not responsive; the sponsor of unsold shares controls everything from the uses of community to the management office.
It is my experience that when, not if, residents of a building act like shareholders of a cooperation rather than tenants of apartments that change will come. Resident's power comes from their numbers and their vision of success. It will take time, patient, persistence and perseverance but all things are possible with God. Therefore, success is already achieved. Own your homes, claim your rights and be the ultimate investor in your own building.
